PUBLIC STATEMENT PL Mulher expresses its solidarity with the good-hearted Venezuelan people who, thanks to American efforts and despite the complicity of some leaders of neighboring countries, are witnessing the beginning of their liberation with the arrest of the narco-trafficking dictator Nicolás Maduro and the destruction of the narco-terrorist power structures that dominated the country and imprisoned its people. Winston Churchill used to say that “the price of greatness is responsibility,” and this is a stance assumed by leaders and public figures who do not shirk their duty. When a country's institutions are taken over by criminals and bloodthirsty corrupt individuals who dominate power structures; when the people are oppressed and hunted to such an extent that they no longer have the strength to resist these executioners; the support of courageous foreign nations and leaders may become the only viable solution for a people "held hostage" by dictators. Yesterday, that support materialized in Venezuela. The operation carried out by American security forces against the narco-terrorist dictatorship that prevailed in Venezuela represents the "beginning of the end" of the authoritarian and criminal regime that, for decades, has imposed suffering and death on thousands of Venezuelan citizens and brutally affected, mainly, women and children. Thousands of Venezuelan women who took refuge in Brazil reported the hardships, abuses, and violence (including sexual violence) they had to endure while fleeing the narco-state installed in Venezuela. Our deaf brothers and sisters and people with disabilities also had their suffering aggravated by the dictatorship and, facing absurd conditions, preferred to risk fleeing to our country rather than die as a result of the evils of the regime imposed by Hugo Chavez and Maduro—both close friends of the current president of Brazil and members of the São Paulo Forum, of which Lula is considered one of the founders. The arrest of the narco-terrorist and dictator, Nicolás Maduro, and the beginning of the demolition of the narco-traffickers' power structures—especially the Cartel of the Suns, which is composed of generals of the regime—brings to the people of Venezuela and South America the sign that the liberation of peoples from the hands of Latin American dictators is drawing closer every day. The American operation against the narco-terrorist dictators of Venezuela is also a warning to all those in power in other South American countries who, being part of the same group and aligned with the Venezuelan narco-dictator, attempt to copy Maduro's modus operandi in their own countries by adopting, among others, the following practices: Favoring, defending, and protecting traffickers (even considering them victims or workers); Restricting the people's freedoms and persecuting the opposition; The gradual imposition of dictatorial practices (disguising them as the defense of democracy); and The co-opting of authorities from other branches of government and the application of lawfare against the people's representatives who resist the regime. The message of the American operation was quite clear: “Dictators disguised as democrats and defenders of traffickers, watch your ‘Barba’ (beard)!” We pray, asking God to touch the hearts of the criminals and also of those people who, deceived by the lies of the powerful, supported the regime, so that they may lay down their arms and surrender peacefully, in order to avoid bloodshed and provide a peaceful and legitimate transition of power through the hands of the suffering Venezuelan brotherly people. May God bless Venezuela and its good people. May He bless all families. May God bless America, our beloved Brazil and never allow dictators to prosper in our country.
