🔹Dr. Asmaa Mehdioui, an #ICESCO expert specializing in International Law and Cultural Heritage Protection, participated in the international conference “Cultural Heritage in War and Disaster,” convened by Malmö City Library in Sweden. 🔹In her contribution, she delivered a lecture on the international legal frameworks for protecting and recovering cultural property, outlining the key legal and practical challenges in combating the illicit trafficking of cultural property, particularly in areas affected by armed conflict. 🔹Dr. Mehdioui further highlighted ICESCO’s efforts under its strategy to combat the illicit trafficking of cultural property in the Islamic world. These include comparative legal studies, consultative meetings, specialized workshops, and initiatives to help Member States develop their legislative and institutional frameworks and strengthen their capacity to protect cultural heritage and recover cultural property.
