Arrived in central Kyiv, by the football stadium and Olimpiyska metro station. Absolutely normal, ordinary city life: noisy evening rush hour in the streets, people behind cafe windows, cyclists and scooter riders on the sidewalks, office workers, some out for a stroll, some going about their business. If it weren’t for the news, I’d never say this city is under drone strikes 24/7, and I certainly don’t see any “panic” or “collapse.” Though what is genuinely hard right now is the colossal traffic jams from the endless air raid alerts, making it difficult to get across the Dnipro between the two banks. And my favorite noodle place has closed down 😣
