Putin now spends his every appearance before his state propaganda pool just gushing out imaginary offensives, triumphant advances, entire Ukrainian divisions being encircled, nonexistent “liberations” of Ukrainian towns in Donbas (sometimes the same places several times over). He has been ominously approaching Sumy, then somehow moving away from it again (like tonight), constantly “picking up the pace,” inventing nonexistent geographical features like a “belt road around Sumy,” repeatedly ordering the “massive” destruction of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which he has been trying to destroy since 2022. And on and on it goes. There’s just one thing I don’t understand: why has this triumphant blitzkrieg by the “world’s 2nd greatest power” against just some “Kiev regime” been stuck in place for longer than the entire World War I lasted — and why does it now require a second wave of war mobilization.
