The “funniest” thing here is that the Russians themselves have long since stopped hiding or feeling embarrassed about their invasion of the Ukrainian Donbas in 2014–2015. Since about 2022, they have openly been giving interviews, savoring and bragging about their “brilliant sabotage operations” and “unsung secret exploits under a false flag.” The associates of the FSB colonel Igor Girkin, the war criminal convicted by the MH17 tribunal, who crossed the Ukrainian border with an armed detachment and seized Sloviansk, senior Russian generals who “coordinated” undeclared military operations on Ukrainian soil, or the now-dead ghoul Prigozhin, with his thugs and the neo-Nazi “Wagner” from the Russian special forces -- all of them have long been enthusiastically telling their own stories. They openly describe how, together with a core group of local collaborators under their control, they seized the region under the guise of a “popular uprising,” how they flooded the region with fighters and weapons from Russia, how the so-called “northern wind” arrived (that is, regular Russian battalion tactical groups without insignia) how the “Wagner Group” fought for Luhansk airport, how invading Russian troops carried out the slaughter at Ilovaisk, which regular Russian GRU and Ground Forces brigades, under whose command, carried out which maneuvers in the battle of Debaltseve, and so on. And only the useful idiots here on Voante are still choking on long-expired stories from Russian television propaganda circa 2014, like “Ukraine attacked Russians in Donbas,” pretending they have no idea what actually happened. Fine, the bloodthirsty Russian Z-crowd sitting here through VPNs -- they live in a state of classic Orwellian doublethink: “We were never in Donbas, but did you see how brilliantly our troops fried the khokhols at Ilovaisk?” But one really ought to keep up, at least a little, with the constantly shifting, 180-degree turns in Russian state propaganda lore designed to serve one of the dirtiest, most inhuman, and endlessly mendacious wars of aggression in human history.
