On this day in 1947, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officially comes into existence. In the 1980s, CIA whistleblower John Stockwell said that the CIA had helped overthrow 20+ constitutional democracies, fomented ethnic conflicts, created death squads, and assassinated multiple Presidents including JFK in 1963. Most of the world views the CIA as a criminal organisation with the blood of millions on its hands, and the heart of the US’ deep state.
