Last Saturday, after launching the Italian edition of Nation of Strangers (Stranieri Come Te, published by @BBEditore ) I opened my first exhibition at #BetterPressLab in Rome, “Strange Spoons: Measuring The Unhomed Time.” The art work stems from the book and my last ten “unhomed” years. I’ve installed three pieces; coffee spoons I’ve been stealing from around world for the last ten years after I left my country, “a bridge is an exhausted thing”, and my shrunken cocoon. A special (and I have to say, stunning and marvelous) art book is created by @TLinotypist connected both to the exhibition and Nation of Strangers: “30 Strange Spoons.” And last but not least, dear Brian Eno @dark_shark gifted me with a piece of original music, “Spoons” for this occasion which played on the opening night. This is an important moment for me because this is the first time in years that I created beauty for the sake of beauty, without feeling guilty for not doing political work:) And also, this is the first time I “make poetry” with media which is not words. And this is all thanks to the incredible friendship and support of Giulia and Francesca from #betterpresslab and Dan Wood. I am incredibly grateful for their generosity and kindness.
