Last Saturday, after launching the Italian edition of Nation of Strangers (Stranieri Come Te, published by @BBEditore ) I opened my first exhibition at #BetterPressLab in Rome, “Strange Spoons: Measuring The Unhomed Time.” The art work stems from the book and my last ten “unhomed” years. I’ve installed three pieces; coffee spoons I’ve been stealing from around world for the last ten years after I left my country, “a bridge is an exhausted thing”, and my shrunken cocoon. A special (and I have to say, stunning and marvelous) art book is created by @TLinotypist connected both to the exhibition and Nation of Strangers: “30 Strange Spoons.” And last but not least, dear Brian Eno @dark_shark gifted me with a piece of original music, “Spoons” for this occasion which played on the opening night. This is an important moment for me because this is the first time in years that I created beauty for the sake of beauty, without feeling guilty for not doing political work:) And also, this is the first time I “make poetry” with media which is not words. And this is all thanks to the incredible friendship and support of Giulia and Francesca from #betterpresslab and Dan Wood. I am incredibly grateful for their generosity and kindness. You can see the exhibition until the 14th of April at Better Press Studio on Via Portuense 189. Alongside the Strange Spoons book, Nation of Strangers will be avaliable at the venue.
