I am saddened by the passing of Stephen Lewis, a revered defender of the world’s most vulnerable people and powerful ambassador for good globally.
Stephen dedicated his life’s work to supporting the health and well-being of disadvantaged communities, from his home country of Canada to those across Africa on the frontlines of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Stephen was deeply committed to recognizing, supporting, and empowering those in need. A compelling and principled voice, he championed women’s rights and fought for equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines, prioritizing those most in need.
I extend my deepest condolences to Stephen’s family, loved ones, and the many people whose lives were touched by his passion and determination.
