I held a productive meeting with Dr Katja Pohlmann, Director-General at Germany’s Federal Ministry of Health for Health Security, Resilience and International Affairs (@BMG_Bund).
I thanked Dr Pohlmann for Germany’s steadfast support to @WHO, particularly in strengthening the sustainable financing of the Organization’s core work and enhancing global capacities to make the world safer from infectious disease threats.
Germany’s hosting of the Berlin-based WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence, and its role in negotiations on the Pandemic Agreement’s Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing annex, demonstrate its strong commitment to global health security.
We also discussed ongoing WHO Member State-led efforts to build a more effective and streamlined global health architecture – one that leverages the comparative advantages of all stakeholders in protecting and promoting public health.
