In 2022, lawmakers in Louisiana passed a Congressional map with only one majority African American district out of six – even though Black Louisianans make up about a third of the state’s population.
Now a federal court has ordered Louisiana to redraw their maps and create a second Black majority district. It’s a victory for our democracy, and should motivate us to keep pushing for equal representation in every state.
