Every execution of a political prisoner is murder; every accusation leveled by a tyranny is a conviction devoid of due process. The death of every young Iranian who has never known freedom is an affront to humanity. The death sentence handed down to Melika Azizi represents hatred expressed in its most pathological form by infamous dictators; should the regime ultimately perpetrate her murder—just as it perpetrated the murder of 30,000 other young people—it will stand as its most repulsive act of cowardice.
