French MPs unanimously approved a bill to formally repeal the “Code Noir” and other colonial-era texts that regulated slavery in France’s former colonies.
After the vote, Guadeloupe MP Max Mathiasin broke down in tears as he paid tribute to enslaved men, women and children.
