First Lady Arya Ali and I were pleased to join the leadership of the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry at its 190th anniversary Gala last evening. This financial institution has a rich history; having begun operations as Colonial Bank in 1836, the first commercial bank in then British Guiana, it has, over the many decades, proven to be a valued partner and continues to play a meaningful role in our country’s financial architecture.
