To expand access to reliable electricity in Northern Kenya, we are investing KSh8.4 billion to connect more than 53,000 households to the national grid across the region. In Wajir County, we are investing KSh4.1 billion to connect 26,000 households, while 18,600 homes will be connected in Mandera at a cost of KSh2.5 billion. In Garissa County, KSh1.6 billion will provide electricity to 8,300 households. Broke ground for the construction of the KSh72.2 million Maalimin Mini-Grid in Lagdera, Garissa County. The project, comprising a 102KWp solar system and a 331KWh battery energy storage facility, will provide clean, reliable and sustainable electricity to more than 500 households, enhancing power stability and supporting economic activity. Also addressed residents of Lagdera and updated them on our transformation agenda nationally and in Garissa County, including KSh18 billion worth of investment in affordable housing, modern markets and student hostels.
