It was a pleasure to speak for the first time with President @Jaemyung_Lee of the Republic of Korea. Our countries enjoy a long-standing relationship, based on shared interests in the areas of security, industry and renewable energy.
Russia’s war against Ukraine and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz demonstrate just how important international cooperation is to safeguarding a free, safe and secure world. I have offered Dutch assistance where necessary to support the Republic of Korea in its investigation of an attack on one of their cargo ships this week.
As countries with considerable expertise in innovation-driven sectors, such as the battery and semiconductor industries, we have a great deal to learn from each other and can work together effectively. The Netherlands’ expertise in wind energy could play a vital role in helping the Republic of Korea as it works to become more sustainable. I believe we have plenty to build on.
