Don’t be naive, pursue a pragmatic approach that takes account of our own interests, and reach out to the rest of the world: just a few elements I touched on in my speech this morning on international security at the Next Gen Security Conference.   Today and tomorrow experts are meeting at the Peace Palace in The Hague to discuss a question that the Netherlands, and Europe as a whole, need to address: what will make us strong and keep us safe?  I believe the answer to that question lies in three principles at the heart of Dutch foreign and security policy. First, we must remain fully committed to the rule of law and the international legal order. In addition, the transatlantic alliance remains crucial for our security, and that means Europe will have to do more to make NATO stronger. Finally, the Netherlands and Europe must forge new partnerships and renew existing ones.  Curious about my full answer to this question?
