Shavuot marks one of the most profound moments in Jewish history - the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Shavuot is also one of the three great pilgrimage festivals of the Jewish calendar - a harvest celebration rooted in the land of Israel. It marks the end of the wheat harvest and the moment when the Jewish people would bring their first fruits to the Temple in Jerusalem as an offering of gratitude.
