Your immune system already knows how to remember diseases it has fought before - that's how vaccines work. Now, researchers at @WeizmannScience have discovered that the same memory cells can recognize and fight cancer.
Scientists from Professor Ziv Shulman's lab found that memory B cells in ovarian cancer patients can migrate into tumors, become activated, and produce antibodies that specifically target cancer cells - while largely leaving healthy cells alone.
