Pleasure to meet Prof. Mohamed Seddik Ait Messaoudene, Minister of Health of Algeria, on the sidelines of #WHA79. I congratulated him on @WHO’s formal validation of Algeria for eliminating #trachoma as a public health problem. We discussed @Sante_Gouv_dz’s health system reforms, built on its investments in digital health, bolstering of its health workforce capacities, and strengthening of its primary health care and referral centre services. I also updated the Minister on the stabilization of WHO’s restructuring and financial situation, which are designed to enable the organization to deliver on its core mandates of norms and standards, and convening, and ensure its independence.
