The United Kingdom and France have announced an independent mission to protect freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
"Strictly peaceful and defensive mission to reassure commercial shipping and support mine clearance," said Starmer.
Giorgia Meloni also said Italy will provide naval units for the mission.
"It's in line with missions we've done in the past."
