Police officers inspecting goods at a market in the Ursynów district noticed the ancient bronze dagger and suspected it could be of cultural significance. The item was sent for examination.
An expert archaeologist confirmed it is an archaeological artifact associated with Scythian culture, dating to approximately the 8th century BC.
The seller claimed he had purchased the item several years ago in Germany as part of an antiques collection.
He is now charged with illegally importing an archaeological artifact into Poland, which carries a penalty of up to two years in prison.
