The former head of Russia’s Chemical Protection Troops has been found dead in Moscow
Relatives discovered the body of retired Colonel General Stanislav Petrov with a pistol in his hand.
Kremlin media are divided in versions: some outlets are reporting it as suicide, while others deny this and claim he died of natural causes or illness.
Petrov was the last commander of the Soviet Chemical Protection Troops and the first chief of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection Forces.
He was considered one of the most significant figures in this field.
