Zuckerberg is laying off every 10th Meta employee in favor of AI
Meta is planning 8,000 layoffs and the elimination of 6,000 unfilled positions. One of the main reasons for the cuts is the company’s aggressive rollout of artificial intelligence.
The news was shared in an internal memo from Chief People Officer Janelle Gale.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg has integrated AI into virtually every part of the company’s operations. Meta plans to spend $135 billion on AI this year alone.
The company is framing the layoffs as necessary to make Meta “more efficient and better balance its investments.”
