🇫🇷 “He died for France”
Emmanuel Macron confirmed the death of a second French soldier following an attack on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
Corporal Anicet Girardin of the 132nd Cynotechnical Infantry Regiment had been sent home to France for treatment after being seriously wounded by Hezbollah terrorists in an ambush attack with small arms fire on April 18th in southern Lebanon. He passed away this morning from his injuries.
Another French soldier, Staff Sergeant Florian Montorio, was also killed in the attack.
“He died for France,” Macron commented on his death with the same phrase that he used on March 13th to announce the death of Chief Warrant Officer Arnaud Frion who was killed in an Iranian drone strike against a French military base in Iraq.
