In a park in one of Russia’s cities, actors dressed as NKVD secret police officers are “entertaining” locals by detaining passers-by, accusing them of running a private business, threatening to send them to the Solovki GULAG camp for hard labor, and taking their fingerprints.
When one woman said she had three children dying of hunger, the costumed NKVD officers replied that the children would also be sent to a labor camp, “but with ice cream.”
