🇸🇪 The Swedish government has reportedly stopped using the term "Islamophobia" in official contexts, replacing it with the terms "anti-Muslim racism" or "anti-Muslim hatred."
Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard announced the change, describing the original term as "problematic" because it focuses on irrational fear rather than tangible acts of hostility or racism.
Sweden intends to advocate for the same terminology change at international bodies, including the United Nations and the European Union.
The decision has been largely supported by the right-wing Sweden Democrats, who have previously criticized the term as a tool for political manipulation.
