Black Lives Matter forgot to kneel for these Black people. In Sudan, more than 60% of the population suffers from acute food shortages. Millions have been forced to eat leaves or animal feed to survive. According to the 2026 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan, around 28.9 million Sudanese are acutely food insecure, with tens of millions living on just one meal a day. Sudan’s brutal war, waged by the Muslim Brotherhood-backed Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) against its rivals, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), is now entering its fourth year and has created one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises. Reports based on interviews with Sudanese farmers, traders, and humanitarian workers describe how the conflict is pushing communities toward famine, driven by the collapse of agriculture and the use of starvation as a weapon, including the deliberate destruction of farms and markets. Women and girls are among the most affected, facing a heightened risk of violence and rape when going to fields, markets, or even collecting water. After years of intense Gaza reporting, the international mainstream media is turning a blind eye to the suffering in Sudan. Black Lives Matter is quick to call out so-called “systemic racism” in the West, but doesn’t seem to care that their African brothers and sisters are being slaughtered by the thousands. Why is that? 🧵1/10
