On May 14 1948, Israel declared independence, 8h before the termination of the British Mandate for Palestine
Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon,
Iraq, Saudi, Yemen & Morocco attacked Israel the next day but lost the Arab-Israeli War, which came to an end on March 10th 1949.
Egypt had pulled out of the fighting on January 7th after an Israeli offensive into the Sinai Peninsula.
