Israel established a hidden military base in Iraq’s desert region to support operations against Iran, a report by The Wall Street Journal said.
The report says Iraqi troops nearly uncovered the site earlier this year after reports of suspicious helicopter activity in the area. Israeli strikes reportedly pushed Iraqi forces back before they could reach the outpost.
The base was allegedly used as a logistics hub for Israeli air operations and included search-and-rescue teams prepared to recover downed pilots. Israel’s military declined to comment on the report
