New York City police detained around 100 demonstrators on Monday after more than 300 anti-war protesters held a sit-in outside the Manhattan offices of US senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, pressing them to support an expected Senate vote to halt further US arms sales to Israel.
The action was organised ahead of a forthcoming Senate vote on proposals to block the sale of weapons and bulldozers to Israel.
