The US military carried out a strike on an alleged narco-vessel in the Eastern Pacific Ocean on April 24, killing two people. US Southern Command described the vessel as operating on known narco-trafficking routes and linked to a designated terrorist organisation. The strike was ordered by Gen. Francis L. Donovan, commander of US Southern Command.
The operation forms part of intensified US efforts against drug trafficking in the region since last September, during which at least 163 people have been killed
