Hundreds of people gathered in Mexico City to mark the 164th anniversary of Cinco de Mayo, celebrating Mexico’s 1862 victory over French forces. Participants in period costumes re-enacted the Battle of Puebla, when Mexican troops defeated Napoleon Bonaparte’s army on May 5.
The annual tradition, recognised as an intangible cultural heritage, brings the community together with vibrant parades and dramatic performances.
