Italy’s L’Espresso gained strong backing from readers after Israeli criticism over its “Abuse” cover linked to the occupied West Bank.
The magazine released behind-the-scenes footage to prove the image was authentic, rejecting claims it was fabricated.
Editor Emilio Carelli told TRT World:
“Our goal has always been independent journalism that tells the truth.”
He added that documenting what he describes as unlawful realities is a journalistic duty
