Israel has approved a five-year plan worth approximately $334 million to expands illegal settlements in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, The Times of Israel reported on April 16. The plan aims to strengthen infrastructure and resettle 3,000 Israeli settler families in Katzrin, which Israeli authorities promote as 'Golan’s first city.' Under international law, the Golan Heights are recognised as Syrian territory which Israel has illegally occupied since 1967, and settlement expansion there is also considered illegal. “I spoke with President Trump when he recognised our sovereignty over the Golan, and now we are coming with a massive development surge,” Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said on April 13
