Kenya and Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) are co-hosting the Africa We Build Summit in Nairobi because our governments and African financial institutions have a common goal of ending the age-old practice of exporting raw materials.
Our minerals, agricultural products and all the other raw materials we export earn us a minute fraction of what value-added products are worth. In addition, our manufacturing has stagnated while tens of thousands of jobs are exported.
At the same time, AFC has opened its first regional office in Nairobi and today we signed a Host Country Agreement with the financial institution.
To support this great African institution, we will deepen our commitment with a $25 million share capital.
