Of course, the OECD pledge misreported by Politico is not our only free-speech initiative. But we have other causes in our public diplomacy portfolio ranging from commercial diplomacy to sports, etc.
In aggregate, the amount spent by authoritarian regimes (and pro-censorship civil society groups) to oppose free speech far exceeds what I’m able to spend to promote it. Fortunately, freedom sells itself.
