President Donald Trump offered his own explanation after posting—and then deleting—an AI-generated, Jesus-like image of himself on Sunday. When approached by reporters at the White House on Monday, he insisted it wasn’t meant to depict him as Jesus.
“I did post it and I thought it was me as a doctor,” he said. “It had to do with the Red Cross, there’s a Red Cross worker there, which we support.”
Vice President J.D. Vance, a Catholic, also downplayed the post, saying “the President was posting a joke.”
