Ethiopia and the Netherlands have a close, long-standing partnership in the areas of trade, sustainable development and migration. In that light it was a pleasure to meet Prime Minister @AbiyAhmedAli today.
This year our countries mark a century of bilateral trade relations. The Netherlands is Ethiopia’s largest export destination, and also the largest European investor in Ethiopia, with over a hundred Dutch companies operating there, including in the agricultural sector. In the future, we hope to work together even more closely, for instance on climate cooperation. I wished the prime minister every success in organising COP32 in 2027.
We also discussed the global impact of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and the affect this has had on both our countries.
