🇳🇱🇬🇧 In these times of geopolitical turbulence, it’s reassuring to have a partner and a friend in the United Kingdom, our good North Sea Neighbour. This was reaffirmed today during my visit to Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer in London.
Naturally we discussed the fragile situation in and around Iran. I expressed my appreciation for the UK’s initiative to contribute, with the Netherlands and other allies, to an open Strait of Hormuz. The closure of the Strait is having a big economic impact worldwide. At the same time, we are not losing sight of the war in Ukraine. Ukraine can continue to count on us.
Today Prime Minister Starmer and I also took part in a roundtable discussion with energy companies from our two countries, focusing on the current energy crisis that is having a major impact on households and businesses. We must also remain committed to finding long-term solutions, to keep energy affordable and stay on track for a climate-neutral future.
