After arriving on St Eustatius it was good to meet Governor Alida Francis, the Kingdom’s first woman governor and a born-and-bred Statian. In short, someone uniquely qualified to tell me about how things are going on the island.
Together with the other members of the executive council we discussed the island’s working relationship with The Hague, safety and security on St Eustatius, and the challenges facing the island in areas like infrastructure, climate action and waste management.
It was a great start to my visit to this small but beautiful island.
