On October 7, Matan Angrest was kidnapped from his tank at the Nahal Oz base after a fierce battle against hundreds of terrorists.
His commander, Captain Daniel Perez, and his fellow soldier Staff Sgt. Itay Chen were killed and taken to Gaza. Sgt. Tomer Leibovitz was also killed.
Matan was the only one taken alive.
A grandson of a Holocaust survivor, Matan stood on that day defending the country his grandfather helped build.
Two generations. Two chapters of survival.
