Attacks on health in conflict settings are rising.
Driven by the latest escalation of hostilities in the Middle East since they started on 28 February, the average number of daily attacks on health globally, as recorded by @WHO, has increased from 3.7 to 4.3 per day.
In the Middle East region alone during the past two months, WHO has verified 149 attacks on health care in Lebanon, 26 in Iran, and 6 in Israel, resulting in 111 deaths and 233 injuries, mainly in Lebanon.
Health facilities, health workers and patients are protected under international humanitarian law.
Attacks on health must stop. Peace is the best medicine.
